The Blue Dolphins finished 6th this past weekend at the Illinois Masters State Meet — our best finish yet. We had a fantastic turnout of 45 swimmers participate this year — 150% more than we have ever had at a swimming event. As I looked up into the stands from the pool on Saturday and saw rows of members wearing team T-shirts and sitting together, it made me really happy to see so many of us there swimming, having a good time, and getting to know one another. We really pulled together as a team for this one.
We broke some records this year again at the State Meet.
** Coming in big for CBD was Tim Carlson who broke state records in four individual events — 200 Breaststroke (2:02.46), 200 IM (1:51.59), 100 Butterfly (49.32), and 100 IM (50.84).
** Our Men’s 25+ 200 Yard Freestyle relay composed of Nick Early, Tim Carlson, Kevin Wilson, and Ted Meeds set a record with a time of 1:28.22
** Our Women’s 18+ 200 Yard Medley relay composed of Tashy Bohm, Jessica Stephens, Sarah Randag, and Lindsey Whalen set a record with a time of 1:56.28
** Our Men’s 25+ 200 Yard Medley relay composed of Nick Early, Tim Carlson, Kevin Wilson, and Ted Meeds set a record with a time of 1:38.95
Nick Early had a great meet and did CBD proud by winning the Men’s 25-29 High Point trophy for scoring the most points at the meet for men between the ages of 25 and 29.
Special thanks go out to Valerie Tyler, Bernice Ruo, PK Johnson, Rob Iglinski, and Tobey Demott (and baby Christopher) for coming to the meet to cheer on their team mates. To those who had spouses and significant others come to cheer on, please pass along my thanks for their attendance and team support.
