2008-09 Masters Competitions Posted

I was just out at the Illinois Masters Swimming Association website and saw that they’ve begun to post the competions for the end of the year.  You can see what’s there at:
http://www.ilmsa.com/competition/upcoming.

I wanted to draw everyone’s attention to a meet going on December 6-7th down at the University of Chicago, the Tyr Grand Prix.  This meet is a short-course meters meet that runs on both Saturday and Sunday.  You can pick and choose what days or portion of the day you’ll want to go to because this is Masters Swimming — I won’t make you do the 1,650 on Friday night.  There’s a great mix of stroke, distance, and sprints in the meet.  The best part of the meet is that it’s in short-course meters.  And who can remember what they used to do in short-course meters so this one is “history free.”

The meet should be a lot of fun.  You can get out and swim some individuals and relays, hang out with and get to know some of your team members, and use it as an excuse to get a big brunch or lunch afterwards.

You can register for the meet online at www.TyrGrandPrix.com.  The online entry deadline is December 2nd.  If you register by November 26th, you’ll get a T-shirt.

To swim at the meet, you’ll need to have a current US Masters card.  Since we’re late in the year, the cost of registration is $25 (rather than $35).  The quickest way to register and renew is to online and register at:

https://www.clubassistant.com/club/USMS.cfm?1=21

You’ll be asked for information to register you for Chicago Blue Dolphins.  You’ll want the following information:

  • LMSC:  Illinois Masters Swimming (ILMSA)
  • Club: Team Illinois Masters (IM)
  • Workout Group: Chicago Blue Dolphins (CBD)

You’ll get an image of the card to print out for your records. You should check the “Also send me a card in the mail” to get a paper copy of your card sent to you.

When you register make sure you click the meet in your “My Competitions” list on the internal website.  That way, you’ll know who to look for at the meet.  If you are new, look for an email on how to log into the internal website and manage your profile and contact information.
